Ascendant, Flying Brick With A Tricky Schtick

This villain is a high-tier flying brick and energy projector with an added trick up her non-existent sleeve that gives her a big edge against other physical powerhouses.  Her base Health is a little low but she's got potential support from one of her minions Defending her and you really need something other than kinetic damage to deal with her well.  Unlike most Legion archetypes she's unlikely to have large numbers of minions out at once, but she's still a menace even with none in play and never has to spend actions creating them.

Ascendant

Delilah Darling was the trophy wife of an elderly mafia boss before she was caught in the crossfire of a super-fight between rival villains and gained her own powers.  Granted phenomenal abilities, she set out on her own and made a brief stab at becoming a superhero under the supranym Ascendant, but quickly found her past coming back to haunt her.  Distrusted by other heroes and the authorities and disappointed by how thankless hero work could be, she was soon fed up with foolish altruism.  Delilah has used her old contacts to become a well-respected and very well paid supervillain for hire.  Her services cost, but she's always worth the money and is much less unstable than most super-muscle.

Embittered by her reception in the heroic community, Ascendant takes a real pleasure in proving her superiority over other supers.  She's well aware of her looks and appears to enjoy some insincere flirting with male heroes if they seem bothered by the attention, although she's also very easy to fluster if a female hero does the same to her.  Delilah works fairly well on teams, although she doesn't really offer her allies much support beyond just being an efficient and self-sufficient powerhouse.  She's most likely to be recruited by villains with profitable jobs in mind that might need some raw power or at least a good distraction, the Emerald Phantom being a good example.

Description: A stunningly attractive woman wearing a glossy black "one-piece swimsuit" costume, accessorized with snug thigh-high boots and elbow-length gloves of the same material, very much a "fan service" character design.  Her voice is a rich contralto but she can't carry a tune to save her life.  Her duplication powers (and those of her minions) manifest as the physical blow seeming to knock an exact physical copy away from the attack, reeling back for a moment and then becoming its own free-acting entity while the original stands there unaffected with a mocking smile.  If she's going incognito, her costume is very easy to wear under street clothes, although she'll need to wear long pants and tuck her gloves in a pocket or purse.

Powers: Strength d10, Cosmic d10, Agility d8, Flight d8, Duplication d6

Qualities: Close Combat d10, Ranged Combat d10, Cynically Avaricious d8, Criminal Underworld Info d8, Fitness d8

Status: (# of Legion Minions) 0 - d12 / 1-2 - d10 / 3-4 - d8 / 5-8 - d6 / 9+ - d4

Abilities:

Cosmic Barrage (A) Attack multiple targets using Ranged Combat.  Then end up wherever you want in the scene.

Divided Minds (I) Whenever multiple legion minions all take the same action against the same target, you must roll all their dice at once and use the lowest rolling die amongst them for each minion's result on that action.

Duplicates Reduplicated (I) Whenever a Legion minion with a die size greater than d4 rolls a save against physical damage, instead of the normal effects if it succeeds it splits into two minions, each of one smaller die size, and you take 1 irreducible damage.  If it fails its save, it is only reduced one die size rather than being destroyed, and you take 1 irreducible damage.

Shed Duplicate (R) When you would take physical damage, prevent that damage and create a legion minion with a die size equal to your status die (after creating that minion).  You may use this reaction more than once per round, but each use after the first deals 1 irreducible damage to you.

Triumphant Strike (A) Attack using Close Combat.  Use your Max die.  Defend yourself against all Attacks with your Mid die until the start of your next turn.

Upgrades & Masteries (optional, really depends on how big her payoff is going to be):

Group Fighter (I) +20 Health.  When you take an action that lets you make an Attack, also make an Attack using your Mid die.

Master of Profitability (I) If you have access to great wealth and other resources, automatically succeed at an Overcome to leverage those resources to get even richer, no matter who pays the price.

Tactics

Ascendant is an efficient and straightforward combatant who aims to defeat any foes swiftly, prioritizing whoever seems to be the greatest threat to her and her allies.  If facing many foes she'll rely on Cosmic Barrage to damage all of them at once while repositioning to avoid a massed return attack or jump an isolated target in melee.  Foes who rely on physical attacks will be singled out in melee with Triumphant Strike, relying on Shed Duplicate to negate counterattacks and spawn minions.  While these minions are limited by Divided Minds, they can multiply themselves when facing physical damage using Duplicates Reduplicated.

Her upgrade augments all her active abilities' damage output and versatility, while her mastery reflects her Cynically Avaricious roleplaying quality at full swing.

One of Ascendant's more disturbing tricks is to create a duplicate of herself by borrowing a pistol or blade and deliberately Attacking herself to trigger her Shed Duplicate reaction (yes, she's a fan of the Persona games and favors head shots).  She rarely does so in combat, but it's a useful way to make a short-lived minion as a distraction, messenger, or gofer while she does other things.  Allies with multi-target physical Attacks will often include her as a target to trigger Shed Duplicate as well.
