Spearhead ACE, Stolen Government Power Suit

Government-built power suit in the hands of a rogue test pilot.  Probably.

Spearhead ACE

The Spearhead Advanced Combat Exoskeleton was developed in secret from confiscated alien and extradimensional technology by [sinister government agency of choice] with an eye toward producing an elite force of soldiers optimized for anti-superhuman combat duties.  The prototype had reached the testing stage when they were found out thanks to a whistleblowing hacker and ordered to shut down.  The current suit operator was a Lieutenant Malcolm Feers, who refused orders to stand down and broke out of the research complex by force, resulting in a number of casualties and severe property damage.  It was later discovered that he'd somehow breached electronic security and absconded with copies of the suit's plans after corrupting the primary files.

The Spearhead ACE suit (presumably with Feers still operating it) has made several appearances since, in each case working alongside other established supervillains or agents of [high tech criminal conspiracy of choice - SEVER would be a good choice].  Its motivations appears to be purely mercenary, as disputes over pay and exceeding contracted obligations have been observed.  Malcolm Feers has been court martialed and dishonorably discharged in absentia for his actions and remains a wanted criminal by both civilian and military authorities - although there's no definite proof that he's still piloting the Spearhead ACE suit.

Description: Sleek suit of dull silver power armor, standing about 6'5" tall.  Its helmet has a bladelike sensor/emitter fin that adds another 6" of height and does actually look like a spearhead from some angles.  The lenses over its eyes are a glossy black.  When using its powers its various energy projectors produce cyan blue beams and the whole suit is enveloped in a faint blue aura from its force fields.  Its boot thrusters leave a trail of blue particles and are surprisingly quiet unless they're being pushed to their limits.

Abilities:

Evasive Maneuver (R) When Attacked, Defend yourself by rolling your single status die.  If the damage is reduced to zero you may move to anywhere else in the scene.

Overloaded Attack (A) Attack using Power Suit.  Use your Max + Mid dice.  Hinder yourself using your Min die.

Stabilized Energy Reserves (A) Whenever you gain a penalty, reduce the value of that penalty by one.

Versatile Training (A) Take any basic action using your Max die.  Recover Health equal to your Mid die.

Upgrades & Masteries (optional, but usually in effect if he's had a chance to charge up the suit's reserves since its last fight):

Defense Shield (I) You cannot be damaged by anything except yourself until the defense shield is destroyed.  The shield has 40 Health, or can be deactivated with three Overcome successes.  If a hero takes a minor twist working on the shield, you can use a Reaction to Attack that hero by rolling your single Inventions die.  Gain Reestablish Shield (A) Overcome using Absorption.  Use your Max die.  On a success remove one success from the deactivation challenge.  Alternatively, instead of an Overcome, use your Max die to Recover that much of the shield's Health.  This ability cannot be used if the shield has been completely removed.

Master Mercenary (I) If you have a contract for a specific task, automatically succeed at an Overcome when your payment is at stake.

Tactics

The Spearhead ACE suit is a fairly effective combat machine as long as its capacitors hold out, which are represented as its Health here.  It incorporates light armor plating, force field generators, boot-mounted thrusters, strength augmentations, and a variety of integrated energy weapons concealed in its gauntlets, chest, and helmet.  Its potent Overloaded Attack is offset by Stabilized Energy Reserves, letting it maintain a continuous blitz of blows and beams.  Evasive Maneuvers offer added defense and excellent mobility.  The current pilot's Versatile Training lets him build dice pools to do almost anything well while also rebalancing its energy systems (in game terms, recovering some Health).

Its upgrade lets the Spearhead ACE run its defensive screen at maximum power for a short time and reinforce it by absorbing the energy of attacks.  Its mastery reflects the unfortunate avarice that led its pilot to abscond with the suit in the first place - assuming that's still Feers inside the suit, that is..
